Meanwhile back at the farm…thick cut smoked bacon anyone? Whole and half hogs are available

Hogs

For the epicurean inclined, The Cider Farm is offering whole and half hogs that are raised for us at Seven Seeds Farm with our organic cider apples.  We are accepting orders for whole and half hogs that will be ready late fall or early winter.

Hogs

These are heritage breed hogs that are rotated on organic pastures at Seven Seeds Farm. They are fed whey from award-winning Uplands Cheese grass-fed dairy, non-GMO feed, and finished on apples and pomace from our apple pressings.  It hardly gets any better.

Our apple-fed pork is an economical way to get fantastic pork at a great price, while supporting both Seven Seeds Farm and The Cider Farm.  And buying pasture-raised meat helps combat global warming!

You decide how you want it processed, meaning what cuts, smoking, sausages, and other processing choices.  Your pork would be processed in Wisconsin.

Meat cuts

Never ordered bulk meat before?  I will be happy to walk you through it.  Contact Deirdre to ask questions or to order your whole or half hog.

While it may be May, think ahead to some lovely roasted apple-fed pork this winter and next year’s Easter ham.

Reserving your whole or half hog now, you’ll decide in the fall on your cuts and processing.  Recipes you like can help guide your processing decisions.

A whole hog is approximately 130-160 pounds of meat, while a half is approximately 65-80 pounds.  This varies by the size of the hog and your cutting options.

Whole hogs are $3.50/lb                               Half hogs are 3.75/lb
